Introduction

My name is Emily Wayne. My father happens to be one of the richest men in the world... and a hero of the night. My father is Batman. And I am Batgirl.

This journal was found the day that Bruce Wayne's Penthouse was seized after the unmasking of Batman and Batgirl by the Joker. Both Bruce and Emily Wayne escaped custody along with their long time butler, Alfred. This journal leaves out quite a bit of detail of events leading up to the first entry. Here is the bio of the girl known both as Emily Wayne and Batgirl:

Bruce Wayne first met Susan Wilkins when she stayed at his home as an exchange student from England. They started a romantic relationship at some point and conceived a child, though Wayne did not know of this. They were both sixteen when this happened. Wilkins went back to England and Wayne stayed where he was. It was not until fourteen years later that Wayne knew he had a daughter.

Emily Wayne(Wilkins) was raised by her grandmother, Grace Wilkins(deceased). Not a lot is known about this period in her life. All that is known is that when Grace Wilkins died, Emily was taken by her mother to Gotham and left in the care of Bruce Wayne.
